Product design studios for AI startups

Seven studios, checked . We're one of them, listed alphabetically like the rest.

DirectoryBy Nisreen Pagdiwala
Product design studios for AI startups, a Hexcode design studio directory list

A product design studio for AI startups designs the interface around a model: what the user types, how the answer arrives and what happens when it's wrong. Where the studios below publish a price, it starts at $2,000 a week or $4,599 a month.

The model gets better every month. The interface around it usually doesn't, and users notice first.

We design for AI companies too, so this list isn't ranked. Studios are in alphabetical order, us included, and nobody paid to be on it.

How we picked

A studio made the list if:

  • its own site names AI products, or AI clients, as a focus
  • it designs product interfaces, not only marketing sites
  • it works with startups
  • it's a studio, not a solo freelancer or a talent marketplace

We left out freelancer marketplaces, tools that generate designs with AI, and agencies built for enterprises. Prices, Clutch numbers and client names come from each studio's own site or Clutch profile.

The seven studios at a glance

Four of the seven publish a price or a starting budget, and Parallel sets a minimum on Clutch. Foundey prices by the week, Eleken and Lived In Design by the month, and 925Studios gives a starting budget.

Figures from each studio's own site or Clutch profile, checked . "Clutch minimum" is the minimum project size a studio sets on Clutch, not a quote. Where a rating says "per its site", the studio states it and we haven't checked it on Clutch. Named clients are ones the studio names on its own site.

Notes on each studio

925Studios

A remote studio registered in India that says it was named Best AI SaaS & Web3 UI/UX Studio for 2026. It sells on a fixed monthly fee, and its named clients include MARA, Solana and Jupiter. The $7,000 starting budget and 4.8 rating come from its own blog, since we found no Clutch profile.

Good fit if: you want a fixed monthly fee from a studio that has worked on AI and crypto products.

Denovers

Focused on B2B SaaS, AI and data-heavy products, with design and engineering from one pod. Every engagement starts with a 7-day trial sprint, and its longest embed ran 24 months. Clutch shows 5.0 from 14 reviews.

Good fit if: your AI product is dashboard-heavy and you want design and frontend from one team.

Eleken

A Kyiv studio with a US entity in Delaware. It lists AI among the industries it serves and names Aampe, Frontend AI and Lambda. It publishes three plans: $4,599 a month for a part-time designer, $6,599 for a full-time one and $11,999 for two, with a two-month minimum and a 3-day free trial.

Good fit if: you want a published monthly price and a short trial before you commit.
Not a fit if: you need a designer online through your whole US afternoon.

Foundey

The only studio here that prices by the week: $2,000 a week for a sprint, and $7,000 a month for its Growth tier. It starts with a 2-week pilot. Named clients include Traycer, CodeRabbit, Sero AI (YC S23) and Athina (YC W23).

Good fit if: you want to trial a designer for two weeks before you commit monthly.

Hexcode (us)

A 15-person studio in Indore, founded in 2020, with US overlap until 1pm PT. Our named AI work is mostly websites and brand: Drizz, Riveter and Pinpoint. We also do product design, and our UserExperior web app redesign is the closest product reference, though it isn't an AI product. We don't publish a price and have no Clutch reviews yet. See our AI startup work

Good fit if: your product and its website need to tell the same story, from one team.
Not a fit if: you want a studio whose case studies are mostly AI product interfaces.

Lived In Design

A flat $10,000 a month buys a senior designer and a PM together, and it's the only studio here that bundles product management. It focuses on product design for B2B AI SaaS and keeps a small client roster on purpose.

Good fit if: your bottleneck is deciding what to build, not drawing it.

Parallel

Lists AI Product Design as its own service, covering interface and interaction design for AI products, with recent work for Sarvam, HealthifyMe and Meta. It works as an embedded partner in your Slack and sprints, with engagements of 6 to 16 weeks that it says typically start at $10,000.

Good fit if: you want a studio that names AI product design as a service and overlaps with both US coasts.

What changes when the product is AI?

Most product design basics still apply. What changes is how often the output is uncertain, and what the interface does about it.

What changes when the product is AI?
Design questionWhat it coversAsk the studio
InputWhat the user types or uploads, and how much guidance they getHow do you design a blank prompt box?
WaitingLatency, streaming and progress for slow answersWhat does the user see while the model works?
UncertaintyHow confident an answer looks, and what happens when it's wrongHow do you show a wrong answer without losing trust?
ControlEdit, retry, undo and handing off to a humanWhere can the user override the model?
EvaluationWhether the interface helps, not only whether the model is accurateWhat do you measure after launch?

Six questions to ask before you sign

  1. Which AI products have you shipped, and can I use them?
  2. Who designs the empty, loading and error states for model output?
  3. How do you work with our ML and engineering team on what the model can really do?
  4. What does the monthly fee buy: hours, a named designer or a queue?
  5. How many of my working hours overlap with yours?
  6. What's the notice period, and do I keep every file when we stop?

The first one matters most. An AI interface proves itself when you can use it.

Questions

What is a product design studio for AI startups?

A studio that designs your product's interface, with extra attention to model output: prompts, streaming answers, uncertainty and handing control back to the user. Most work as a small team inside your Slack and sprints.

How much does AI product design cost?

Published prices here start at $2,000 a week (Foundey) or $4,599 a month for a part-time designer (Eleken). Lived In Design charges $10,000 a month for a designer and a PM, and Parallel says engagements typically start at $10,000. The rest quote after a call.

Do I need a studio that has built AI products before?

It helps. The hardest screens are the ones with uncertain output, and a studio that has shipped them already has opinions. Ask to use something they built, not only to see screenshots.

How is a studio different from hiring a designer?

A studio can start in days and stop when you ask. An in-house designer takes longer to hire but owns the product for the long run. Many startups use a studio first and hire their first designer later.

How fast can one start?

Denovers opens with a 7-day trial sprint, Foundey with a 2-week pilot and Eleken with a 3-day free trial.

Why isn't this list ranked?

Because we're on it. Ranking a list we compete in would tell you more about us than about the studios. So it's alphabetical, with the facts we could check.
